I get asked a lot what kind of photography gear I shoot with, so take a look at what’s in my bag below. I’ve shot Canon my whole career, and the brand has been good to me. If you’re struggling with what brand to invest in, do your research, rent a couple different options to try them out (Aperturent!), and know, for the most part, it’s all about preference!
There are a few items I’ve been a huge fan of: my 50mm 1.2 is my go-to lens; I definitely use it the most! The Gary Fong diffuser might look goofy on top of your camera at receptions, but it is a must have for a speed lite—whether you’re creating slow shutter fun or working with a multi-light set up. Something that might seem random, but has gotten me WAY more compliments than my stellar style is the changing tent I whip out at sessions. It allows clients to change literally anywhere! It also makes for good entertainment when they watch me try to re-fold it. My full photography gear list is below!
CAMERA GEAR:
Canon 5D Mark IV
Canon 5D Mark III
Canon 50mm 1.2
Canon 70-200 II 2.8
Canon 24mm 1.4
Canon 24-70mm II 2.8
Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro
(3) Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT
ACCESSORIES:
Paul C. Buff Heavy Duty Light Stand
(2) Cheetah Stands
4 Batteries + Neewer DSLR Battery Holder
SanDisk ExtremePro SD cards (backup in Mark IV)
Think Tank Photo Airport International (this has lasted me FOREVER and been all over the world. WORTH the investment!)
ONA Leather Bag (portrait sessions)
Zecti Camera Backpack (adventure sessions/elopements)
It’s a simple (and unexpected) way to serve clients and their guests. Also, I get hangry real fast, and chapped lips are no fun for anyone, so I also never want to get stuck in a situation that’ll keep me from being 100% on a wedding day.
You know how the best MOH’s have Emergency kits for their beloved bride? Well, ya girl here is ready to arm wrestle for MOH honors. I carry a kit with me that is filled with everything I might need throughout the day AND things I can offer to make the day a better experience for my clients. Dress not staying put? I gotchu. Feet hurting from dancing too much? I gotchu. Starting to stank from being outside all day in the middle of 90 degree weather? Oh I gotchu, boo. (I keep this kit in my car at all times so it comes in useful for shoots as well!)
